Welcome to HealthAfterChemo.com

Are you a cancer survivor who wants to recover and lead a healthy life?  Have you had side effects from cancer treatment and want to recover from them? Are you concerned that the cancer will return? HealthAfterChemo.com is for you.

I'm a Stage III breast cancer survivor who experienced the disabling effects of chemo brain after my first infusion. I've researched this problem in the scientific literature, and discovered solid evidence of physical damage to cancer survivors' brain cells.  Other websites for cancer survivors tend to minimize or dismiss this problem.  Research you can read about on this site reports, for example, that brain volume can be lower for two years following chemotherapy.  But my concern is more about empowering cancer survivors to recover, and not about why chemotherapy side effects aren't more of a concern.

Chemotherapy damages your immune system, too. It's one reason why cancer survivors are at risk of a recurrence or a second diagnosis of cancer  2 to 5 years after cancer treatment.  Because of long-term damage to their immune systems, cancer survivors are also at risk for many years afterwards of different cancers developing in a different location. Our science and medical advisors have offered their advice to help prevent a future cancer.   This is more effective than years of screenings  and tests.

In short, cancer survivors  learn more about prevention and recovery here than from nearly any other cancer site. If you have a question or want to suggest a topic, please complete a contact form and we'll do our best to help you.
